EMD-Kenya co-founders, Andrew Otsieno and Hedwig Nafula, bring over 30 years of organization development consultation experience, including services in strategic planning, organization assessments, project evaluations, facilitation, training, and documentation.

Andrew Otsieno

Andrew Otsieno, Organization Development ConsultantOriginally trained as an engineer at the University of Nairobi, he has over the past 18 years transformed into an organization development consultant. He works with projects, enterprises, nonprofits, religious congregations, social enterprises… to improve there effectiveness and integrity. He is a certified Enterprise Management Development Expert and has knowledge of social enterprise development issues including income generation options. He currently heads EMD-Kenya - certified by the International Trade Centre - Geneva as a national centre of Enterprise Management Development programmes. He also teaches and provides advice in the planning, management, and evaluation of mission-driven organizations, enterprises, and projects, and facilitates any process that requires structuring and effective communication.

His key capabilities are:

  • researching options and developing strategic plans within a business or social enterprise setting;
  • monitoring and evaluating services, and internal and external accountability; and
  • building management competencies in planning, execution, and control.
Hedwig Nafula

Hedwig Nafula, FacilitatorHedwig Nafula, EMD-Kenya’s COO and facilitator is a trained developmental worker with expertise in the project cycle management: programming, identification, formulation, implementation, and evaluation. She has over 14 years experience in managing specialised events, facilitation, documentation and project management.

With this background, Hedwig has ably served religious congregations at varying stages in their organisational development. She is retained as a project leadership trainer by the Association of Sisterhoods of Kenya; and MMM training centre, Arusha, Tanzania. Currently, Hedwig is involved in content development and facilitation of the Sisters’ Leadership Development Programme initiated by Marywood University spanning, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana and Nigeria.
